After almost three years, the UP academic community will elect its university senators. Students and academics can nominate new or returning members of the UP Academic Senate (AS UP) for any of the faculties from February 3 to 19, 2026. I therefore call on everyone to actively participate in the nomination process, either by proposing suitable candidates or by standing as a candidate themselves," says Irena Smolová, chair of the current AS UP, adding that a broad and high-quality spectrum of candidates is a prerequisite for meaningful elections and a strong, legitimate Academic Senate at Palacký University in Olomouc.
Elections to the university's "grand senate" will then take place from March 11 to 18, 2026. Once again, all UP students and academics will be able to vote electronically. Each faculty is represented in the university senate by two academics and one student, for a total of 24 members. The term of office of the new UP Academic Senate will begin on May 16, 2026, and end on May 15, 2029.
