On my own computer, at a time that suits me. Starting in July, this is how mandatory periodic training for UP employees in Occupational Safety and Fire Protection will take place. Employees will be notified by email, complete the course in the LMS Moodle, and finish with a short test. In-person training will remain in place for new hires and managers.

The change in the format of periodic employee training in Occupational Safety and Fire Protection (OSH and FP) – from the previous in-person format to an online course on the LMS Moodle – will take effect on July 1. The existing records in the SAP system will be used to automatically send email reminders to complete the training; the completion date will also be entered into the system upon successful completion.

How will the transition to online training take place?

On July 1, 2026, the SAP system will send Moodle information about employees whose training has expired or is about to expire. These employees (and their supervisor) will receive an email notification from Moodle prompting them to complete the Employee Occupational Safety and Fire Protection Training course.

„Given that the SAP system records several hundred cases of expired or missing periodic OSH and fire safety training for employees, we can expect a large number of inquiries,“ explains Pavel Liolias from the Rector’s Office’s Safety Division.

How often do I have to complete this training?

All employees at UP must complete occupational safety and fire protection training every 1 to 3 years, depending on their job type and position. They will receive a reminder 8 weeks in advance that the training is about to expire. „If an employee does not complete the training within 6 weeks of receiving the notification from Moodle, the system will send them a reminder 5 days in a row about the upcoming expiration of the training,“ Liolias adds and clarifies, that for now only periodic OSH and FP training for regular employees will be available online. Induction training and periodic training for managerial staff will continue to be conducted in person.

What does the online training look like?

„The length of the training varies depending on the profession, but it’s roughly 7 pages of text to study. To complete the training, you must pass the final test. Information about completion is recorded in SAP, which automatically tracks the training’s validity,“ explains Liolias. The online training is also available in English; you can change your preferred language at the beginning of the course.
