Joseph Stalin played a massive role in developing Orthodox Christianity in the Soviet Union. It is essential to note that During World War II, Stalin realized he could use his knowledge and experience in religion to benefit the Soviet Union. The purpose of the lecture is to discuss how Stalin's Policy affected the Church - on the one hand, the using of the Church as a political instrument and, on the other hand, to describe the impact of Stalin's ecclesiastical policy on modern Orthodox circumstances.
