Get moving, recharge your batteries, and enjoy a day full of aktivity – this year’s Sports Day for students and staff at Palacký University is coming up on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. It will offer dozens of indoor and outdoor sports and physical activities for teams and individuals. You can already register today for the dragon boat race or the Faculty of Arts soccer tournament.

The University’s Akademic Sports Centre (ASC) prepares a rich program for UP Sports Day every year; a detailed overview and the opening of registration are scheduled for the second half of April. New this year, you’ll be able to try paddleboarding or American football.

Traditional Hiking and Park Runs

A traditional part of Sports Day will be a hike with Moravský turista, this time to the Pomoraví region. The popular Jiří Hronek Memorial – a run through Olomouc’s parks – will also take place, as well as the Dean’s Cup soccer tournament for students and staff of the Faculty of Arts.

Your First Time in a Dragon Boat or Cycling Through the City

New additions to this year’s event include the Great Olomouc Bike Ride and a university-wide dragon boat race. The afternoon program for children and adults is also returning, featuring a presentation of the “Expedice PřesBar 2026” project for people with disabilities.

This Year’s Closing Party at Doga

As is tradition, Sports Day will conclude with a social program organized by ASC, which will take place for the first time ever at the Envelopa dormitory complex in front of the Doga pub. You’ll be able to try out unconventional sports (disc golf, table soccer, speedminton, badminton, ringo, croquet, petanque, Kubb, Mölki, Spikeball), and there will be plenty for kids to enjoy as well. Refreshments, a prize drawing, and evening music will be provided.

Palacký University organizes Sports Day annually for its students and staff as a benefit and incentive to exercise and lead a healthy lifestyle. A rector’s day off is typically declared, and all physical activities are free for both staff and students at UP.
